Common Sense Legislation
Laws Should Protect Policyholders
Laws should exist to protect policyholders and ensure claims are paid fairly, and without delay. In most states, the laws require the policyholder to pay for their own experts and attorney’s fees even when the carrier is at fault.
Not only is this unfair to policyholders, it creates an environment that is ripe for insurance carriers to underpay claims and drag out payments knowing that policyholders may not be able to afford to get what is rightfully theirs.
In addition, we believe that insurance carriers should be required to properly investigate claims and be responsible for the “experts” they hire when making a determination on claim payment.
Policyholders should not have to foot the bill for insurance company mistakes.
Our Position
A Lack of Laws and Policies Are Hurting Consumers
Insurance companies should be held accountable for mistakes and should be required to honor the policies they sell.
